South Auckland's favourite Family Doctor in Pukekohe has now joined our Primary Care Group. Care Group is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Pukekohe Family Health Care.
Pukekohe Family Health Care (PFHC) is a large General Practice that has been serving families in the Franklin area for over 70 years. They now have 15 doctors who, with the help of a dedicated team of health care professionals, provide multiple services and specialist clinics.
Therefore, bringing Pukekohe Family Health Care into our Group has furthered our vision to build community health in Auckland.
We're now East Auckland's largest primary health care provider
As a result of the 100% purchase of Pukekohe Family Health Group, Care Group is now East Auckland's largest provider of Primary Health care. It is now also one of the biggest Groups in greater Auckland. Pukekohe Family Health Care has around 18,000 enrolled patients and provides low-cost, affordable health care. Accessible to all the local community, this well-known family doctor is located in the heart of Pukekohe.
Care Group, CEO, Gordon Armstrong, spoke about the shared values of both groups in “delivering high-quality health care to the community ". "It was clear that amalgamating PFHC with Care Group's existing services would bring extra capability to its growing business. Pukekohe Family Doctor Clinic set to bring value to East Auckland
Pukekohe Family Health Care will definitely be a valuable addition to the Care Group portfolio. It has a large team of dedicated and skilled doctors, several of whom have been serving their community for many years. Dr Brian Ross has worked in the practice since 1981. A caring family doctor, Brian has a special interest in caring for people with complex medical conditions. He also helps with patient care at Pukekohe Hospital. Other clinical team members bring areas of medical expertise. Dr Hella Insinger brings experience in mental health to the clinic, for instance. Similarly, Dr Rod Wynn-Jones enjoys working with young families.
Along with their colleagues and the nursing team, this large clinic brings low cost and accessible health care to a great many of the Pukekohe and Franklin community. The practice runs several specialist clinics and services.

Care Group becomes the largest East Auckland health care provider
Providing integrated health care services to the East Auckland community has been a vision of Care Group since the early 90s. So, our focus has been on delivering quality medical care and continuity. Our after-hours service has ensured residents of East Auckland can access Urgent and after-hours care. East Care Accident and Medical Centre is 100% owned by Care Group. So, Pukekohe Family Health Centre is the second clinic to be a fully owned clinic in the group.
Care Group has a long-standing partnership with another respected health provider, Health Improvement Group, with whom they share a vision. Together they own Botany Junction Medical, and opened two brand new, purpose-built centres, Ormiston Medical Centre and Highbrook Medical Centre in 2021. Other successful acquisitions have been the Highgate and Sommerville Clinics. As our teams have worked alongside Pukekohe Family Health Care through the after-hours network, we could see that PFHC would be an excellent fit with the existing clinics.
